Ship role and justification? Captain. Tezuka is hardworking, responsible, and calm under pressure. He has the capability of dealing with all the different personalities that come aboard the Karura with respect, poise, ease, and authority.
History: (What is their background? How did they come to be on the Karura?)
Tezuka came from a long line of Earth Aerospace Alliance officers. His grandfather was a Fleet Admiral, now retired, but still offering advice to the new executive command. His father had risen slowly through the ranks and was now Deputy Chief of Earth Aerospace Alliance Operations. Tezuka attended Earth Aerospace Alliance Academy with the sole intention of becoming a liaison officer, but a series of aptitude tests shifted his course of study into flight command. However, on a mission shadowing other flight officers, the Nebula-class starship he was on took on considerable damage from -- according to the flight officers -- an unavoidable asteroid field and he sustained a severe injury to his shoulder due to the severe turbulence. Not letting the injury slow him down, Tezuka used the experience to increase his flight skills and successfully navigated a starship through a similar event with no damage a year later.

Upon graduating as one of the youngest graduates in Earth Aerospace Alliance Academy's history, Tezuka was commissioned as a junior flight officer onto a Sovereign-class starship for a four-year tour of duty on the outer reaches of the galaxy. When he completed his mission as a senior flight officer, no one was surprised when Admiral Sakaki commissioned him to be the captain of the newest luxury starship in the galaxy.

After one year on board, Tezuka had had firm control of the ship and seen no significant catastrophes much to the delight of the Earth Aerospace Alliance executives.

Journal sample: The latest report from the scientists was acceptable. I would like more detail next time, but this is sufficient.

We will be setting into orbit around the planet Vespa in the next two days. If you would like to go to the planet, please prepare your travel plans at this time. The orbit will last approximately one week as we resupply.

Tag sample: Tezuka sat in the captain's chair on the bridge, watching as the spaceship travelled closer to its destination. He wouldn't admit it out loud, but he was looking forward to the stop. Vespa was known for its beauty - clear skies and water, lush vegetation - and he was quite keen on taking a long hike in the forest.

"Captain, we are about to enter into Vespa's orbit. Would you like to contact their space command?"

"Aa. Set up the link."

Ship role and justification? ~~lol no~~ Bounty hunter. Yukimura isn't the kind of person who likes taking orders. He'd much rather be his own boss than follow rules or whatever.
History: (What is their background? How did they come to be on the Karura?)
Yukimura grew up in a well-to-do family on Earth-8 Prime. He enrolled in Earth Aerospace Alliance Academy a year behind Tezuka (only because an illness set him back considerably) and graduated. Barely. Not that Yukimura isn't smart, no. He's quite skilled in many areas. It's just... developing those areas of expertise was frowned upon by Earth Aerospace Alliance Command. What do a bunch of old people know about space flight anyway?

Anyway, Yukimura accomplished his tour of duty as a junior tactical officer. Sure, he was fantastic at flying, but he was far better at tactics during battle and aiming for opponent's weak spots before they knew what hit them. Instead, after he was decommissioned, Yukimura was recruited by a shadow league of bounty hunters on the edge of the galaxy. Within six months, he'd delivered fifty fugitives and decided he would set out on his own. The shadow league was a bunch of lazy asses and he didn't like being bored. Besides, when you take the entire league's business, people start to dislike you for some reason.

Three years in and everyone knows him by name. Suck on that, EAA Command.

Journal sample: I'm back~!

A quick visit. I just happened to be on Vespa when I heard the Karura was going to be in orbit. How lucky for me! It's been ages since I last docked aboard.

I'll make my normal rounds, but Atobe, I have something for the bar I think you'll just die for. When would be a good time to bring it to you? Actually, forget that. I'll bring it with me when I inevitably stop by. We'll talk over drinks. See you soon~
Tag sample:Yukimura stepped off his shuttle and waved to one of the cargo inspectors.

"It's all yours," he said cheerfully. Of course, they'd never actually find anything. Yukimura was far too clever to let Earth Aerospace Alliance's lackeys confiscate his equipment.

He took the long way around to get to The Ice Bar, stopping by the gardens to make sure they were well taken care of. Satisfied that they were, Yukimura arrived at the bar and unzipped his flight jacket. He was going to stay awhile, might as well be comfortable.

He found a seat towards the back with a lovely view of everyone. His bounty was currently sitting at the bar nursing some neon beverage -- he didn't want to know -- and the owner of the establishment was doing his usual, paranoid rounds. Now things would get exciting.
