Ship role and justification?

Therapist (independent, not EAA assigned), but secretly a spy for a rival organization resentful of the near-monopoly the EAA has on luxury interstellar travel (Mizuki calls this ‘consulting’). Mizuki enjoys getting all up in people’s business, and feels a sense of importance on being able to advise them on their actions. His observational skills and social empathy are above average, so he can at least give some decent advice. Being a spy satisfies his need to know everything and makes him feel doubly important. He has a bit of a silver tongue and can be very persuasive, which serves him well in both his jobs.

History: (What is their background? How did they come to be on the Karura?)

Mizuki realized early on in his life that he was really good at digging up people’s problems, and that he could get people to pay him just to tell them that they had problems. He became a therapist, because the pay was quite good, he didn’t have to deal with bodily fluids, and it was very helpful for impressing dates. He set up a moderately successful clinic on a space station that became quite well known for its waiting area, which was styled after a Victorian English tea room. Eventually, some interested parties began to notice that Mizuki 1) tended to attract some high-profile clients, 2) could sweet-talk his way out of most troublesome situations, and 3) very much enjoyed the finer things in life that money could buy. Mizuki was easily won over with a large sum of money and the promise of an exciting double life aboard the Karura. He replaced the previous ship counselor who retired due to ‘personal reasons’.

It’s awful how little storage there is on this ship. Where am I supposed to stow all my rococo chinaware? I went through a lot of trouble to acquire this collection. Honestly! I know space is at a premium on this ship, but is a bit more shelving too much to ask? Not everything has to be minimalistic chrome, you know.

Still, I suppose it’s not too bad, for home. I’m Mizuki Hajime, and I’ll be the ship’s on-board therapist starting today. Feel free to stop by if you need to talk about anything~

Decked out in his completely infallible disguise of an entertainment hostess, complete with luridly pink platform shoes armed with voice recorders, Mizuki arranged himself on a chaise and took out a compact mirror. He pretended to touch up his makeup while observing the small gathering at the back of the bar. Some high-ranking EAA officials were aboard for an undisclosed reason, and this had piqued Mizuki’s interest. Hopefully he would have some tidbits of information for his employers by the end of the evening. Standing up, he couldn’t help the little smirk on his face as he sashayed over, taking care to show off a bit of leg. This hunt for data was his favourite part of his job.
