There is no place more appropriate to celebrate White Day than the Ice Bar. Bartenders serve the selection of ivory cocktails in sparkling crystal glasses on chunks of ice. Platters of delicate hors d'oeuvres decorate the tables, consisting of quail eggs, miniature goat cheese quiches, oysters in their half-shell, sushi rolls and other vanilla coloured tasters. Origami trees boast flowers of white chocolate truffles wrapped in paper that can be unravelled to reveal your fortune in romance.

"The best romance always is," Fuji agreed. Movies, dinners, flowers, chocolates with questionable fortunes: people compromised emotionally were the easiest targets for extracting money. But that didn't mean it couldn't be fun too.

As Zaizen raised their joint hands to his mouth, Fuji casually mentioned, "I received a wasabi hand soap for white day. Someone does know me well."

It was a complete lie, but there was a chance the reaction would be almost as good as the gift itself.

"Spoken like a true communications officer." Zaizen didn't gratify Fuji with more than a wrinkle of his nose; if that were true, he would have smelled it.

The half chocolate was delicious, as expected of Atobe's party.

"I don't think that Venn Diagram of people who love you and hate themselves that much exists."

"Nnn, I'm sure there are more difficult matches," Fuji replied. His tastes after all, just required someone with the right tastebuds. Or none at all. Oh, and a love of sadism. And cacti. Small points. His eyes scanned the room. "Who would you match with Yukimura-san?" he asked Zaizen. "Your Venn Diagram needs to overlap flowers, painting...." he tilted his head on one side. ".... and the possibility you might be sold for money."

"Matching people to other people is harder than matching people to appropriate gifts," Zaizen pointed out, following the path of Fuji's gaze over to Yukimura. "With too much overlap, things might get boring. So it's less like a Venn Diagram and more like geometry."

Out of everyone in the room, Yukimura seemed to get the most out of speaking with Atobe. The bounty hunter was always pleased to rile up that particular bartender. Zaizen didn't answer Fuji's question verbally, but he did glance toward Atobe and back with a slightly raised brow.

Fuji's gaze slid over to the evening's host and then back to Yukimura. It was true that the bounty hunter frequently chose to approach his shuttle's guests within the Ice Bar even though --as had been pointed out numerous times by Atobe-- the ship had corridors aplenty for an ambush. One might even speculate the bartender protested rather too much about that.

"But relationships must know limited," he said to Zaizen. "Those two might confuse their goals and murder one another." He shook his head in mock sadness. "The cleaners would complain about the blood for weeks."

Zaizen blinked. "Isn't it more interesting that way?"

At least for voyeurs like them, who enjoyed photographing other people's dramatics.

Fuji considered this, his head tilted thoughtfully to the side. "Depends if glitter was involved," he concluded. "Tezuka would blame me for the mess if so."

Feasibly dead bodies was also going a bit far. Even for them.

"That would be a pretty unique MO," Zaizen agreed. "Now you have me fighting the temptation to frame you with something involving glitter. And possibly glue and feathers."

Fuji attempted to look askance. "Limits please, Zaizen," he said, in mock shock. "Tying up the Galaxy's most prominent business owner and covering him with wasabi is one thing, but leave glitter in the hallway and I might be in real trouble."

There were times when Fuji wondered about the priorities of those onboard the Karura.
