There is no place more appropriate to celebrate White Day than the Ice Bar. Bartenders serve the selection of ivory cocktails in sparkling crystal glasses on chunks of ice. Platters of delicate hors d'oeuvres decorate the tables, consisting of quail eggs, miniature goat cheese quiches, oysters in their half-shell, sushi rolls and other vanilla coloured tasters. Origami trees boast flowers of white chocolate truffles wrapped in paper that can be unravelled to reveal your fortune in romance.

Atobe leaned back against the neatly arranged shelves of bottles behind the bar. His gaze missed nothing as it scanned his staff mixing and serving drinks. If the ordered beverage was simple and the patron not overly important, he did not trouble himself to interfere. For the occasional client worth his attention, he stepped forward and prepared the cocktail himself. That did not happen often.

Yukimura wasn't about to skip a party in the Ice Bar, not that an event with a lot of people would ever be called a party by the owner of the establishment. He walked into one of his favorite haunts, having left his hip flask in his ship as yet another gift to the bar owner. Atobe was so lucky to have a frenemy like him.

He weaved his way through the crowd and sat at the edge of the bar, leaning on it with a seasoned familiarity. Ignoring the bartender that attempted to get his order, the bounty hunter waved to Atobe with a large smile on his face.

He was the heir to the largest human-owned business cooperation in the galaxy and owner of the most exclusive bar on the EAA's flagship vessel, but that didn't stop the sludge of the space underworld flagging him down like an open cab. Atobe ignored him for three seconds. There was no point in longer; not only would Yukimura continue making his bar counter look like a teenage rock concert but at the end of the day, Atobe also did not trust anyone else to mix the bounty hunter's drink.

With unhurried gestures, Atobe straightened and walked over to his latest patron, leaning against the opposite side of the marble bar top. "Do try to look less like an idol-struck adolescent fan girl," he told Yuikimura. "Uchiwa fans would not add to my decor."

Yukimura's smile widened. Atobe was too easy to rile. It was almost boring, but the bounty hunter always enjoyed their banter and the entire thing was amusing.

"No hip flask, Kei-chan," Yukimura said smoothly. If it had been anyone else, the bounty hunter wouldn't have admitted to not having his flask on him. Their shared history, however, gave Atobe the tiniest sliver of trust. "What do you recommend?"

Instead of haunting the cafeteria, Echizen decided to see if Atobe decided to supply anything more substantial than expensive cheese. He was pleasantly surprised. Eager to take advantage, he picked up an appetizer plate and took one of everything.

That would probably hold him for ten minutes.

"Ecchan!" Eiji greeted, spotting his favourite pilot-person carrying a small mountain of food. He had a break from making boring white cocktails with zero dry ice and the food looked super good. "You sure that's enough for you?"

Fuji examined one of the origami trees and carefully extracted one of the truffle flowers. He opened the wrapper to reveal both chocolate and a thin slip of paper.

Tezuka had left the bridge in capable hands (though, he still had a communicator on just in case he needed an excuse to leave) to attend the White Day event. The bar was tasteful in its decor and he greatly appreciated the lack of glitter. He saw Fuji at the display of origami trees and walked over.

"The decorations are nice. Did you coordinate with Atobe on this event?" Tezuka asked, carefully choosing a truffle and opening it. He frowned at the fortune.

Fuji looked with surprise down at his fortune and then smiled at the captain of the Karura. Was this a revelation or simply a philosophical speculation that they were all aliens in space?

"Officially, Atobe-san and I worked together," he told Tezuka, his eyes sliding over the glistening white decor. "In practise... " he looked back at Tezuka, "...Atobe had it well in hand." He trusted that his senior was well aware of the bar owner's skills in collaboration and compromise.

Fuji tilted his head to look over at Tezuka's fortune. His smile broadened. "I could add your first performance to the ship's entertainment roster if you like?"

Zaizen plucked up a flower from the tree and unwrapped it curiously. A fortune could add some personal color to a blog post that would mostly be sneaky pictures of party attendees.

The fortune merely read: meh.

"Touche," Zaizen responded, and looked around for an opportune place to dispose of the chocolate.

As he let the Karura's captain move on from the prospect of gangster rap, Fuji saw Zaizen had risked a fortune of his own. He stepped up behind the other officer, looking over at the piece of paper in his hand.

"Even the chocolates are not immune to your indifference," he commented.

"What can I say, I have the apathetic touch," Zaizen drawled, turning to face Fuji. They were the same height, which made it easy for him to step closer into Fuji's space and put the chocolate in his pocket. "Your white day present."

A trip to the dry cleaner -- it was thoughtful if he said so himself.

Yuushi was rarely as grateful as he was to discover that the ship residents had, for a welcome, welcome change, decided to stop in their endeavours to fill his life with every form of new and impossible ailment in the known universe. The chance to attend Atobe's party and, perhaps, finally find the opportunity to make amends for his long hours in med-bay was not one he was going to turn down.

And besides, this was a party that he didn't have to attend wearing an abominable blingy shirt, and that was more than worth it.

"So he emerges," Zaizen commented, though the same could be said for both of them. Though he was down with a mild cold, he couldn't exactly pass up the opportunity to see what other people were up to. He did have a blog to run.

Without further small talk, he held out his plate, filled with small sandwiches, and asked, "Please take a bite of each one."

With his knowledge of contamination, Oshitari would make a decent taste tester.

"Yes, the world outside diseases is a wondrous place," Yuushi replied with a dry chuckle. "Though I admit that the time I've spent with the sick is making me see symptoms in everyone I encounter."

He raised an eyebrow at Zaizen's instruction to, as far as he could understand, test his sandwiches. "Are you expecting to be poisoned?"

Atobe stepped out from behind the bar, holding two glasses delicately in his long fingers. Stepping through the crowds that were turning his bar into a mosh pit, he approached the ship's chief medic and offered of the cocktails. Oshitari should be awed at the service he received at the Ice Bar.

"Do tell me you are not on call?" he inquired, raising his own glass in a toast.

Yuushi took the proffered glass and clinked it softly against Atobe's with a smile of greeting. "I... choose not to be," he said. "After all, Valentine's was rather... sub-par. I would hate for White Day to be the same."

After finishing his verbal spar with Atobe, Yukimura left the bar and decided to find his normal seat towards the back of the establishment to nurse the concoction the bar owner had created for him.

As he closed his trap around a particularly piece of sushi, Echizen noticed Yukimura approaching the table with whatever potion that Atobe was trying to sell for triple the price this time. Since he very much doubted that the bounty hunter would try to make good on the deal with his father in a place like this, he swallowed and enjoyed another piece.

"Should've figured that you'd be here," he said.

Yukimura would have kept walking if it wasn't for Echizen. This table was too close to other people and didn't make for very good stalking, but there wasn't much he could do about that. He took a sip of his drink and gave a friendly smile to the flight officer.

"I wouldn't miss one of Kei-chan's parties," the bounty hunter said brightly.
