[OPEN LOG] White Day

There is no place more appropriate to celebrate White Day than the Ice Bar. Bartenders serve the selection of ivory cocktails in sparkling crystal glasses on chunks of ice. Platters of delicate hors d'oeuvres decorate the tables, consisting of quail eggs, miniature goat cheese quiches, oysters in their half-shell, sushi rolls and other vanilla coloured tasters. Origami trees boast flowers of white chocolate truffles wrapped in paper that can be unravelled to reveal your fortune in romance.

Can you feel the love tonight?

"That's for you to decide, Fuji," Tezuka said evenly. While Tezuka wasn't exactly satisfied with his fortune, the truffle had been nice. "I shall leave you to ponder keeping that piece of paper since scrapbooking is not a part of your budget." He gave a short bow to the outreach officer and walked away from the strange table of truffles.

"Hey, Tezuka-buchou," Echizen approached his retreating captain. Cocking his head slightly, he smirked and said, "Want a match?"

Tezuka paused in his steps to look at Echizen. "A match?" he asked, curious. "We aren't in orbit, so flying would be ill-advised."

"We could do it without leaving the ship. A driving video game, to tide us over until next time," Echizen proposed. "And because it's not really enough of a challenge right now..." he jerked his head over to an empty spot at the bar and raised a brow. "Think you can win?"

The first thing that popped into Tezuka's head was that Mario Kart game Atobe had been playing with Oshitari for a time. There was also the fact that the only "video game," if you could call it that, Tezuka ever played was a flight simulator at the Academy. He doubted the two were similar.

"Doubtful," Tezuka replied, but he was itching for a competition. "However, I suppose it wouldn't hurt to try."

"Not an optimist, Buchou?" Echizen said, leading the way toward the spot at the bar. He hopped a little to get himself up on the seat. "What happens at this bar would probably change your odds."

"A realist, Echizen," Tezuka told him, following the younger man to the bar and taking a seat. "Unless the item is akin to Felix Felicis, I am unsure the odds will change."

So Tezuka did not think that he could out drink Echizen.

"I'm sure that Atobe-san would give it to you, if he had any in stock," and if that were the case, Tezuka would surely use it for something much more important. "You could tell him to surprise you."

Tezuka raised an eyebrow slightly. He really didn't want to think about the reasons why Atobe might be so willing to give him something. "I don't think it's wise to be surprised with a drink at a bar," he said. Even if it was a bar owned by someone Tezuka was generally familiar with.

"Then what do you go for?" Echizen said, his eyes skimming decorative bottles and attractively assembled cocktails. He didn't know where to begin himself, as he rarely drank by his own initiative.

Atobe watched the captain of the Karura and his diminutive squirt of a pilot approach his bar and eye the drinks bottles. He excused himself in an entirely silent manner from the patron he was paying absolutely no attention to, and approached the officers.

"Tezuka, are you to make my own White Day and actually sample a drink from the bar that made your ship famous?"

"Tea, usually," Tezuka replied, then thought a bit more about the question. Echizen probably meant alcohol. "Though, my grandfather is fond of Tinixian wine and I don't mind the taste of it."

There were a lot of bottles lining the walls behind the bar. Surely one of them was the wine that Tezuka spoke of. "I bet there's some here. Not a sweet one, right?"

He wondered if Atobe would willingly make a ponta cocktail. Since he quite thoroughly ignored him, Echizen rather thought not.

"Nice to see you too, Monkey King," he drawled. "I want Ponta with vodka. Buchou wants to know what you have for Tinixian wine."

Without replying, Atobe lifted a glass, filled it with water and put it down in front of Echizen.

He turned back to Tezuka. "I have the Tinixian," he told the ship's captian. "However, allow me to recommend the 'refresher cocktail'. It has a similar fresh taste and is not sweet."

Tezuka glanced at Echizen's drink. "Shouldn't that be a different color?" he asked. He didn't think Ponta was clear, but perhaps, in space, things were different.

He looked at Atobe and shook his head. "I think either the star gazer or the cool melon mint would be acceptable." The former for the mix of rum and chardonnay and the latter for the tart dryness of the elderflower. "If you don't have the ingredients for those, then just a glass of the Tinixian."

"Don't bother. It's impressive enough that he can talk," he said to Tezuka, implying that it would be silly to expect perfect service from trained monkeys. Atobe's insistence to not serve him would make this game even easier for Echizen.

"Do you have any of those straws left?" Echizen smiled innocently with his question to Atobe. "Your bartender always gives me one."
