[OPEN LOG] White Day

There is no place more appropriate to celebrate White Day than the Ice Bar. Bartenders serve the selection of ivory cocktails in sparkling crystal glasses on chunks of ice. Platters of delicate hors d'oeuvres decorate the tables, consisting of quail eggs, miniature goat cheese quiches, oysters in their half-shell, sushi rolls and other vanilla coloured tasters. Origami trees boast flowers of white chocolate truffles wrapped in paper that can be unravelled to reveal your fortune in romance.

Yuushi was rarely as grateful as he was to discover that the ship residents had, for a welcome, welcome change, decided to stop in their endeavours to fill his life with every form of new and impossible ailment in the known universe. The chance to attend Atobe's party and, perhaps, finally find the opportunity to make amends for his long hours in med-bay was not one he was going to turn down.

And besides, this was a party that he didn't have to attend wearing an abominable blingy shirt, and that was more than worth it.

"So he emerges," Zaizen commented, though the same could be said for both of them. Though he was down with a mild cold, he couldn't exactly pass up the opportunity to see what other people were up to. He did have a blog to run.

Without further small talk, he held out his plate, filled with small sandwiches, and asked, "Please take a bite of each one."

With his knowledge of contamination, Oshitari would make a decent taste tester.

"Yes, the world outside diseases is a wondrous place," Yuushi replied with a dry chuckle. "Though I admit that the time I've spent with the sick is making me see symptoms in everyone I encounter."

He raised an eyebrow at Zaizen's instruction to, as far as he could understand, test his sandwiches. "Are you expecting to be poisoned?"

"Including yourself?" Zaizen asked, as a sick Oshitari was of no use for his purposes.

Deciding to proceed for now, he responded flatly to Oshitari's question, "No, I want exactly six indirect kisses from you for White Day." It was just coincidence that the number corresponded to the amount of sandwiches on his plate.

Yuushi looked from Zaizen to the sandwiches. "Wouldn't you rather direct ones?" he asked, reaching for one from the plate and taking a bite out of it before holding it out. "All right, no fast acting poisons, at least."

Satisfied, Zaizen nibbled from the offered sandwich. He approved of the taste and plucked it neatly from Oshitari's hand. "No, I'm shy. Try the egg sandwich next."

Yuushi wasn't sure whether he should be laughing or mildly concerned for his companion. He located the egg sandwich and was in the middle of tasting it as requested when the thought struck him. "Are you making sure there aren't any..." He paused for the best way to put it, given the circumstances. "Non-poisonous, but still undesirable ingredients in the food?"

"Is it so hard to believe that I have a crush on you?" Zaizen drawled, and snapped a picture of Oshitari mid-egg sandwich. It wasn't quite material for the next cardboard cutou.

Atobe stepped out from behind the bar, holding two glasses delicately in his long fingers. Stepping through the crowds that were turning his bar into a mosh pit, he approached the ship's chief medic and offered of the cocktails. Oshitari should be awed at the service he received at the Ice Bar.

"Do tell me you are not on call?" he inquired, raising his own glass in a toast.

Yuushi took the proffered glass and clinked it softly against Atobe's with a smile of greeting. "I... choose not to be," he said. "After all, Valentine's was rather... sub-par. I would hate for White Day to be the same."

Atobe's lips curled into a smile and he sipped from the white drink. "I always felt Darwinism was an underrated approach to medicine."

Reaching behind him to a elegantly decorated tree of fortune chocolates, he plucked two from the branches and offered one to Oshitari. "Care to consider your future?"

After finishing his verbal spar with Atobe, Yukimura left the bar and decided to find his normal seat towards the back of the establishment to nurse the concoction the bar owner had created for him.

As he closed his trap around a particularly piece of sushi, Echizen noticed Yukimura approaching the table with whatever potion that Atobe was trying to sell for triple the price this time. Since he very much doubted that the bounty hunter would try to make good on the deal with his father in a place like this, he swallowed and enjoyed another piece.

"Should've figured that you'd be here," he said.

Yukimura would have kept walking if it wasn't for Echizen. This table was too close to other people and didn't make for very good stalking, but there wasn't much he could do about that. He took a sip of his drink and gave a friendly smile to the flight officer.

"I wouldn't miss one of Kei-chan's parties," the bounty hunter said brightly.

"I'm sure he's thrilled," Echizen said, more interested in his plate than Yukimura and Atobe's strange dance. "Catch anyone interesting lately?"

"About as thrilled as you would be if there was no food," Yukimura said. He pondered Echizen's question for a moment. "That entirely depends on your definition of interesting, but I recently delivered a Galvaran fugitive who had taken up a job as a belly dancer as a disguise."

"What a special relationship," Echizen said. "And I guess dinner and a show counts as interesting. Were they any good?"

Definitely not as good as this sushi.

A special relationship indeed. Yukimura chuckled slightly at the thought.

"He could've been better. His hip action was lacking. Even your wooden captain could do a better job."

Echizen swished his soda around in the glass. It wasn't ponta, but good enough. "Heeh, I wonder if there's anything that could convince him to give it a shot."

Maybe if his captain had been prompted to drink on the rave moon. Who knew?

Yukimura didn't think there was anything that could get Tezuka to belly dance. Other than an excessive amount of alcohol. He looked back at the bar.

"You might be able to convince a certain bar owner to spike your dear captain's drink."

Shaking his head, Echizen said, "Unlikely that would work. Atobe would have to dose him with something really potent, or he'd have to continue to drink it voluntarily."

And he very much doubted that Tezuka would just drink himself into that kind of stupor for no reason. But, when he thought about Atobe, Echizen supposed that he did have another angle. Another angle that might put him prey to his little bet with Yukimura.

"Atobe should be good enough to make a spiked drink that Tezuka can't tell the difference," Yukimura rationalized. If not, then he really had no right to keep standing behind the bar mixing drinks. "The alternative is forcing him to do it."

"Still, he'd have to be a lightweight to go down with just one drink," Echizen pointed out. He very much doubted that Tezuka wouldn't notice himself getting more drunk.

"Buchou seems like the kind of guy who digs his feet in when you try to force him. I think I could get him drunk...I dunno if you want to coordinate your boy to get stronger drinks," he jerked his head toward Atobe. It seemed like the kind of sketchy thing that the bartender would want to get involved with.

Yukimura looked at Atobe. "Considering my boy wants to get in your captain's pants, it shouldn't be too difficult to get him to go along with whatever plan you have in mind. Though, in the end, I imagine you'll be on the worst shifts for at least a month."

He almost felt bad for Tezuka. Almost.
